My interactive visits bring Penelope and the Power of Positivity—an inspiring story for grades K-3—to life, reinforcing themes of the growth mindset, perseverance, and self-belief while aligning with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), English Language Arts (ELA), and STEM standards. Through an engaging read-aloud, hands-on activities, and classroom-aligned discussions, students learn to embrace challenges, see mistakes as learning opportunities, and develop the confidence to succeed—both in and out of the classroom!

I’m not just a children’s book author. I’m a physician who spent years asking patients to call me by my first name because I didn’t feel worthy of the title (Dr.) that I worked so hard for.
Self-doubt isn’t just a children’s problem. It’s a human one. And I wrote Penelope so that the children in your classroom could learn to handle it at 7 — not 40.
When I visit your school I don’t just read a book. I connect with your students through their own experiences, weave in lessons that align naturally with your existing SEL and ELA curriculums, and leave them with tools they can actually use. Educators tell me consistently that the visit feels like an extension of what they’re already teaching — not an interruption of it.
Author visits from Dr. Netta are completely free — no honorarium, no hidden costs.
The only requirement is a minimum purchase of 50 books, ordered in advance of the visit.
Don’t worry about meeting the minimum — I make it easy. I will provide everything your school needs including parent order forms, promotional graphics and support materials to help get books into the hands of every child before the big day.
A note on travel:
I am based in Atlanta, GA. School visits within a one-hour radius are completely free. For visits beyond that, a travel fee applies — please contact me for details.
💡 Funding options: schools can use Title I funds, PTA/PTO budgets, literacy grants, or community sponsorships to cover the cost of book orders. I’m happy to provide documentation to support your funding request.
